Is There a Diabetes Cure?

How Did We Get Into This Mess?

With millions of people developing diabetes, a diabetes cure is being anxiously sought.

Let me quote from a Dr. Stanger, who has a great website. I think you will appreciate his point of view. He states, "Diet is the reason we got into this mess and diet is the key to getting out of it!"

That is pretty blunt and I like it. Our eating patterns did create the problem. Only by accepting this reality can we change it.

The beauty of it is that we can undo the disease by changing our eating patterns. Sounds wonderful and like a diabetes cure.Changing our diet, is difficult at best. Unfortunately, because of the very nature of the disease, with diabetes it becomes even worse. As we have seen, insulin resistance and diabetes create feelings of hunger and food cravings.

No one can go on for ever feeling hungry and craving food. At some point, we give up and begin eating more. We soon get desperate as our medications increases and the blood sugar count goes up. So we try to diet again - lose a little and gain more back.

In the meantime, we are losing muscle along with the fat. But we gain only fat back, so we are soon fatter and less healthy than when we began.

How Do We Do It?

In my case, I was taking two different medications - four a day of one and two a day of another. And my blood sugar levels were still high. It was hinted that I might have to begin taking shots. Now that is enough to freak you out. As you know from reading the About-Me page, I was blessed enough to hear about the Matol Diet.
