Take Your Vitamins
How many times to I have to tell you to take your vitamins! If we had conscientious mothers, we heard that more than once. Now we know why we should have taken them. After year of pros and cons, any reasonable person will admit it is well established that supplements are a sensible approach to meeting the bodies nutrient requirements. The chance of getting all you need from food is pretty remote. Methods of growing food and eating habits pretty well rule that out. What are vitamins? A good explanation is that they are an organic compound required by organisms as a nutrient. They can't be made by the body and must be obtained through the diet in forms of food or supplements. What we want to know is, "What's in it for me."
Vitamins have multiple reactions and most have multiple functions. Thirteen are recognized as necessary for humans. A, D, E and K are fat soluble. The nine water-solubles include 8 -B vitamins and C. They are essential to proper growth and development. In adults they remain necessary nutrients for all bodily maintenance. -- cells, tissues, organs, energy, etc. Did you know that those microorganisms - known as "gut flora" - produce biotin and K? Two factors contribute to bodily deficiencies - these are classified as primary or secondary. The primary deficiency occurs when you don't get enough of them in your food. This is often possible even with a diet that includes a variety of foods. Soil conditions, methods of cooking, and other things contribute to this type of deficiency. Secondary deficiency could be due to various other conditions. These include underlying disorders that prevent or limit their use by the body. This can be attributed to factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol usage, or medications that interfere with absorption. Often poor health and lack of sunshine complicate the problem.

On any restrictive diet has the potential to cause deficits and result in disease. During Stages 1 & 2 of the Matol Diet, you must take dietary supplements. They are a good idea at all times, but absolutely necessary when on any restricted diet. There were, however, over 100,000 deaths attributed to prescription drugs. So don't let scare tactics influence you. Children love the nice, chewy, flavorful kind. They are wonderful and easy to get them to take their supplement_vitamins. However, keep them where the child cannot get them without supervision. The child looks on them as candy. The danger of overdose can be eliminated by carefully supervised access to any medication. Keep your own away from accidental use by children as well. There are two that I recommend. One is manufactured with a fructose binding compound that delivers the nutrients on a cellular level - a great break. The other includes mega-vitamin dosages.
